The Birth of J#3....

Since Fishmama is doing a birth story swap. Here is the last, or well last for now :) birth story I have.

I was due on Dec. 31st. and I just knew since I had my other two boys 2 and 3 weeks early that this baby would be also. At about 36 weeks I went in for an appt. and she told me I was dilated to a 3!! So I thought I would be right on track to have this baby early and since my other two babies were 8 1/2 pounds I was all for that. Well, the following week I was still at a 3 with no further "action" happening. My legs were so swollen that she even had me get a doppler test to make sure that I didn't have a blood clot or something going on because one leg was significantly bigger than the other, but thankfully that was not the case. Then at 38 weeks I went in and was still at a 3, I was big swollen and soooo uncomfortable. You know the ladies who have to wear house shoes because no other shoes fit, I was that poor pregnant lady. I had never been before, but I was now, and I wore the brightest pink ones I had, too. I was begging her to induce me! She wanted to me to come back in three days to check my fluids level and see his weight estimate. I did and he was estimated at weighing between 9 1/2 and 10 lbs. The fluid level was good she felt sure that I would go into labor on my own, but J#3 did not get that memo. She wanted me to come back in on Dec. 23rd and see if I at least showed more progress, again nothing! So I told her I was not leaving that office until she set an induction date for me. She set it for Dec. 27th. Christmas came and went with no labor excitement and for the first time in all my births I was walking into the hospital with my bags and pillow and said, "I am here to have my baby today!!"

I got a great nurse this time and I was so happy that my mom was able to come with us and be there for his birth. They hooked me up to pitocin and in 20 min. my water broke on it's own and I wanted the epi doctor, but after the last experience I had I made sure this one knew what she was doing. I asked how long she had been doing this and how many she had done. She was real sweet and assured me that everything would be fine. So I got the epi and it took awhile to kick in, but I was so glad when it did. I got to rest for a short period then it was time to push. I started pushing and I heard her say get the oxygen ready and I got a little freaked out, but was still trying to push then she had the nurses help push my stomach because she wanted him out now! The cord was around his neck and he was purple when he came out, but as soon as he was in the nurses hands he started crying on his own. I was crying too, of course, that was a little scary! My big boy weighed in at a hefty 9 lbs 3 oz. and 21 inches long.

Yes, I have pics of him!!

Here is big boy just after coming out and getting a rub down.

I love this one it looks like he is saying, "Uh, what just happened here?"
Take a gander at those rolls, he was taking up residence in my womb I tell ya.

Here is Mimi (my Mom) with him. She was the first one to hold him and in true Mimi fashion she got on the phone to tell everyone he was here and healthy!

Proud big brothers!

Here he is in one of the "potato sack" nightgowns that his great-grandmother made him.
The nurses loved it!

What a big boy! He look perfect, though :)

You won't believe this, but that material in the last photo used by his great-grandma looks just like the material my grandma used to make a special blanket for one of my boys. She made each boys two special blankets when they were born.

Thanks for sharing his story and photos :)
