The Birth of J#2...

Awhile back I said that I would be posting about the births of my boys and I actually forgot about it after J#1's story until I read about a bloggy friend of mine having her baby today. My problem is though his birth pictures are on our old computer and I can't figure out how to get them from there to here. So I will tell the story anyways and one day when I get them on here I will post them up.

I was due on Jan. 16th and fully expecting that this baby would come early like J#1 did some where around 38 weeks. Around Christmas I was feeling uncomfortable and having a lot of Braxton-Hicks I was around 37 weeks at this time so I took it easy then the weekend after Christmas I went to bed that Sat. and started having contractions so I got up and started walking around and they stopped, I would go back to bed and they would start up again. I decided to call my mom at about 11 pm and told her I think she might want to come and be here just in case (she was to watch J#1 for us). She gets there and nothing. She spent the night and went back home the next morning. Nothing went on Sunday then Sunday night same thing this time contractions were harder, but if I moved around nothing. Since they were harder though I felt sure I needed to call my mom at midnight and have her come over. This time her and my dad showed up and went to bed in the guest room until I needed them. Nothing again, I was so tired and frustrated. My regular appointment with my OB was on Tuesday, but I called first thing Monday morning and asked to please be seen. They were able to get me in and so I drove to my doctor's appt. and my mom and J#1 went with me. Mechanic Man went onto work.

I got there and she checked me and I was at 5 cm. I was shocked. I told her what had been happening and she had me wheeled to L&D and they started a slow pitocin drip at around 11 am to get some consistent contractions. The nurse this time was not as pleasant as the one I had with J#1 and she didn't deaden my hand before jabbing the IV needle in then causing some type of major bleeding coming from it that was dripping down my hand. I was trying not to freak out. I got MM called and he was on his way. My doctor came in around 1:30 pm and broke my water, I talked to friends on the phone and was having a grand ol' time, then it finally reached the point of pain and I wanted the epidural. The doctor who came in to do it I think was new at it and he took a long time to get it in which if I could have moved I might have punched him because it was taking so long and on top of it he had the mean nurse holding me instead of my husband like they did with J#1. I was not happy, but thankfully it got in and the pain subsided. Though only for a second, because he forgot to turn on the pump. I called the nurse in and told her I was in pain and it felt like the baby had a foot caught in my rib or something. She checked me and said that I was ready to deliver. I looked her square in the eye and said, "No, I am not". "I am in pain and I am not doing anything until that gets fixed". So she called him back in and said to give me a light dose because I needed to push. He didn't pay attention and I had the biggest dose and couldn't feel a thing. I couldn't hardly push because I couldn't feel ANYTHING. Thankfully, though with only a few pushes my second baby boy joined our family at 4:07 pm on Dec. 29th weighing in at 8lb. 8 oz. and 20 in. long. I cried and cried when I saw him and he was just beautiful and reminded me so much of how J#1 looked. My mom and J#1 were in the waiting room and when they got to come in the first thing J#1 said was "kiss him" and he bent over and gave him a sweet kiss.

Funny thing though when I started my third trimester I talked to my OB about my insurance changing at the first of that next year when I was due and I wanted to see about inducing on the 29th of Dec. then I would be out of the hospital on Dec. 31st. She said that she did not like to induce before 38 1/2 weeks and I would only be 37 weeks at that time. Well, God heard our prayers and had our little one come join us on Dec. 29th and we went home with him on Dec.31st.

Awe that's such a great story..I'm such a sap for baby stories!
Since you had your 3 at the same place I had my first, I'm pretty certain I know the nurse your speaking of and she did a number on my arm too! (
