WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

As you know we had been gone for a couple of days at my dad's. Well, when we got back the boys ran over to the tree to check on the eggs and they were not there......
I don't know what happened. There is no evidence that they hatched that I can tell and the momma bird is no where around. I don't know if they would have left that quickly after hatching, would they? Or did some animal come snooping and get them, see I told you the momma in me said that was dangerous. We have the most obnoxious dog next door it was probably him. Our neighbors are so nice, but that dog is not. They let him out to go potty and it is always in MY yard, then he has the nerve to bark at me in MY own yard. I am going to take a good look at him the next time I see him. See if he has the "dog that ate the canary or killdeer" look on his face. By the way I think the bird is or *gulp* was a killdeer. Mechanic Man said maybe she moved them. I have not ever seen a bird move their eggs after laying them. I told him thanks for trying to be positive and get my mind off the fact that the dog next door probably had a murder spree while we were gone. Anyways, the J-boys and I are so sad that we never got to see the baby birds :(

On another note, in case you are wondering about the fish tank. All five goldfish are happy and thriving. My aunt had an overflowing tank herself and she gave us 6 more fish to put in our tank. So now there is 11!! Then yesterday I looked at the 5 original fish and I think 2 look a little chubby in the middle. Looks like there will be baby fish before long. I feel the hives coming back. Then watch, the way it seems to be going around here one of the other fish will probably eat the babies before we get to see them :(

So sad about the eggs! I can give you some insight on how to rid that dog off your lawn, in private of course.
As for your fish tank, things look good. Those fish your Aunt gave you are baby makers for sure. That's a good thing. Keep the tank replenished. You should let some of the fake greenery float on top for the babies to hide when they are born. The adults and those goldfish are sure to gobble them up as soon as they are born. It's a fish eat fish world in there!

Welcome to the world of pet ownership and everything that goes with it :)) All it took in my house was for the little one a couple of years ago to be outside and say "Here, kitty, kitty"...and we ending up adopting a leftover cat from a family that moved and left something behind (the cat). It was November, so of course we couldn't leave the little calico outside...and she's a good cat. She would have left those eggs alone :)) Have you heard about the stuff you can put on your lawn that creates a barrier and dogs don't like to cross it? I'll see if I can find the name later. Keep up the great posts.

Ok, quick search led me to two possible products to help with that dog. I've never tried these, but they claim to work naturally. Check out http://www.bio-defend.com/catalog.aspx?catID=DogRepellent for an online product or do a search at Lowes.com for "dog repellant" to find the "Worry Free" brand (about $10 and may be locally available). Let me know if you try it and it works :))
