Yesterday my dad had a total hip replacement. Everything went fine with the surgery now comes the hard part. He will be up and trying to walk tomorrow and start physical therapy. He is looking forward to it right now we will see how he feels by tomorrow night.
During pre-op my dad was his normal joking self. Joking around with all the nurses and the doctors. The only stressful time was when the assistant pastor at my dad's church came by to pray for him before he went in for surgery. We were talking and two nurses came by to draw some blood and all of the sudden the pastor said he was getting hot and needed to sit down. I thought he was going to faint and so did the nurses they hollered for a cold, wet cloth and I was fanning him. I joked with him that he couldn't faint before praying with my dad! He managed to feel a little better and prayed with him then left before any further hot flashes.
When I finally got to see my dad up in his room after surgery he was feeling good and pretty alert. They had a pink A-shaped foam between his legs and both legs taped up to it, to insure no movement. He started joking with the nurse that the gave him a pink foam and he had a dress on. She said yeah tomorrow we will put on make-up and give you earrings. Glad my dad hasn't lost his sense of humor through all of this.

I'm glad John is okay. I was thinking about him.
